About
◆ About the Webmistress ◆
Salutations, I am Lori! I'm a novice lolita interested in the Classic, Sweet-Classic, Aristo, and Casual sub-styles. I'm mostly pursuing the hobby for
fun and at my own pace.
Growing up I've always had a knack for wearing frilly dresses, such as the time I wore a princess gown everywhere. I even had it on during grocery store trips!
When I discovered EGL
later on in my early teens I was delighted to discover a sub-culture of fashion that allows me to wear pretty dresses in my everyday life!
This site is dedicated to all of the beautiful things I have collected in pursuit of my dream. Thank you for visiting my page, I hope you enjoy your stay!
◆ About the Website ◆
Velvetlori version 3.0 took heavy inspiration from the 2003 Baby the Stars Shine Bright storepage. I wanted to prioritize site content over aesthetics so I opted for a minimalistic layout reminiscent of early 2000s webpages. This site is not intended to be a 1:1 oldweb imitation, I just like the simplicity of the webdesign.
◆ My Hobbies ◆
Journaling
I've been writing down my thoughts in a physical journal that I decorate with various stationery such as washi tape and stickers. Aside from the decorative stationary, I don't use anything special in my journal set-up. The journal itself a generic school notebook and my pens are regular gel pens I found at Staples.
Sewing
Although I own a sewing machine and have taken a sewing class in the past, I often default to hand sewing for most of my projects. Whether it be cross-stitch or mending, I find the motions of sewing by hand very meditative and calming. Some future sewing projects I'd like to try are hand-embroidery, plushie making, and EGL accessory creation!
Baking
I love to bake bread and simple confectionaries such as cookies and cupcakes. My favourite go-to recipes to bake are pandesal and swiss meringue buttercream!
Reading
Lately I've been enjoying non-fiction books related to mundane subjects and the science behind them. I mostly read National Geographic magazines which I can find for free in my local library. I also enjoy fictional works, though I usually get my fix via fanfiction lol.
